Suzuhito Yasuda

Suzuhito Yasuda is a Japanese illustrator, manga artist, and character designer. He is the illustrator of the Durarara!! light novels and much of the official Durarara!! merchandise.

History[]

Yasuda began drawing at 19 and primarily illustrates light novels. His illustrations for Durarara!! are some of his earlier works, and he also illustrated Ryohgo Narita's series Etsusa Bridge around the same time.

Yasuda has worked as a character designer and animator for several video game and anime television series. In 2006, he began publishing his own manga series, Yozakura Quartet, which has been adapted into an anime series. Yasuda assisted with the script, story arrangement, and animation for several episodes of the anime.

In-series[]

Suzuhito Yasuda has been recognized within the Durarara!! universe by way of an in-series female illustrator and manga artist named Suzy Yasuda. She and her works are mentioned on several occasions in the light novels and anime. Walker Yumasaki is a big fan of her work and has stated that he would be willing to pay exorbitant sums of money even for one of her prints, providing a large portion of the sum goes to the artist herself.

This is not unique to Durarara!!; in the video game Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, a mangaka named Yasuhiko Suzuya is another reference to Yasuda, who is responsible for the game's character designs.

Works[]

Many of Yasuda's illustrations and designs are compiled in his Shooting Star artbooks. Two of his artbooks, Shooting Star Bebop and Shooting Star Dandyism, focus on his illustrations for the Durarara!! light novels.
