I'm going to be doing some work with the bot so you might not see me edit initially...but I am here! I'll be checking in daily as possible and giving Shinichi tasks to help you guys out. I'm also going to work on hooking an activity logger to the Discord server.
Did Chrome ever pass on ownership of the TsukumoyaShinichi bot to you (i.e. divulged its login credentials)? The recent renaming process of the Mika Harima Arc is a tedious task for us humans, but one that’s well-suited for a bot. While user rights are certainly a concern in light of ChromeCircus’ absence, ownership of the bot seems to me an additional topic on the table.
If obtaining ownership of the bot (which again means acquiring login details) proves unlikely in the long-run, I suppose eventually the creation of a new bot might be proposed to the community? The issue there would be that it’s typically a bureaucrat who requests Staff flag an account as a bot account.
Hey Rev, unfortunately I don't have control over the bot; it would have been so useful to have last night and I wished I did have it for that project! We'll have to bring that up with Chrome and see if maybe she'll share Shinichi's login info.
Hey, I'm Neffyarious. I've been given the task of Wiki Manager for Durarara!! wiki. This means I'll help the community here and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have any questions or issues feel free to message me.
Hi, I'm a CTM and i'll be working with Neffy to expand your content. I'm a huge fan of Drrr, I absolutely loved the whole anime. Is there anything specific you'd like me to help with. Episodes, Characters, Arc, anything that requires more content?
Hi, glad to have you. If you've only seen the anime and want to add content, our second season episode pages probably need the most work. The synopses should be about 2-5 paragraphs; many of them are too short or too long. We've done away with the "adapted from," "referbacks," and "unanswered questions" sections that editors from long ago applied, and "adapted from" is now a field in the since-updated infobox. All the sections at the bottom of the ep pages use headers rather than subheaders, and we have a nav template for the bottom of ep pages, but this is something we add to mark that the page has been updated to our new standards, not something that we mass-edit. Two episode pages that are really good models for how ep pages should look are season 1 episode 3 and episode 8. We appreciate your help!
Okay I understand and I'm totally willing to do that for you. I'm from MHA Wiki and I've written quite a few episode pages for a bunch of wikis (please check MHA, Orphen, Fire Force & others for examples.) I'm happy to follow your standards, I'd just like to let you check out for yourself the type of episode pages I do.
I have no problem matching up the two seasons so they're consistent with the headers, navbox's etc. Usually my full plot summaries tend to be a longer than 2-5 paragraphs tho and they're decorated with pictures so the long text doesn't get overwhelming.
I'm happy to help and will do my best to adhere to what you want, just let me know if my usual style conflicts with that in any way.
Thanks for the episode examples! Your pages are really neat, and I like that you have summary sections preceding the plot details on the Orphen and Fire Force wikis. Fire Force's "new locations" section is also something to think about. Nice work!
Our season one episode pages used to be (and some still are) long and detailed, with an obscene number of images (20 or more, on some articles), missing links, and many mistakes, and it's taken a lot of time and work to clean and condense them. The opinions of the active editors is that we don't want play-by-plays. We'd like a concise summary with a handful of paragraphs and a few supporting images. Any quotes that stand out at you as particularly indicative of an episode's theme or a character's personality are also welcome. Thanks for any help you can lend us toward this goal.
Thank you for informing me, Sparkling Limeade! I have already added your wiki's wordmark to the Overlord Wiki after you made the post. By the way, it seems the link to each of your wiki affiliation include the Overlord Wiki is not working when you click on their wordmark respectively. Although I have no clue how long the error had been there, I thought it was best to inform you of the error.
Is it ever, it’s even funnier because it’s true XD The Anime Trending Awards might also be of interest, there is a voting period for yearly anime so by all means all good fun voting for the favourites!
Thanks for the link! Nearly all of those awards would be well deserved, especially Shorter for best supporting man. I'm biased toward my fav :) I'm also really glad to see so much Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens among the nominees!
Definitely well deserved, though ‘bias’ such a word, ‘voting for the best and what must win it’ which just happens to be Banana Fish sounds much much better! Haha, but yes there’s some great contenders there, categories with easy decisions with Attack on Titan and Free! Amongst the choices, such great line ups all round!
When you have the chance, could you delete the two changes I made to File:Walker Yumasaki EP01 01.jpg? The first change was me uploading a version with a bigger resolution - only to find that the width wsan't up to snuff (i.e. it didn't reach the edges of the infobox), hence the reversion of the second change.
I've got a new version I'd like to try, but I think it'd be cleaner to get rid of those in-between changes first.
Hey, easier to write and link here. Revriley and myself have been discussing affiliations and I’m glad these steps have been taken for everyone. I understand there’s a good rapport between these wiki’s, there was a forum question to request people’s opinions on Baccano! Too.
Your affiliates test box looks nice, it could be made slightly taller to match the right column (bear in mind the advert might affect this time to time) but there’s plenty of space available. If a scroll box is used, whilst it won’t show on phones, ChromeCircus and other Admins are able to make a list of affiliates by editing the sites mobile main page. It’s something like 60% of a wikis traffic comes from phones, tablets and the like now.
For what it’s worth, I hope my input on affiliations is helpful: some wikis affiliate with any anime, even non-anime, by manga publisher, various reasons. Attack on Titan has an interesting affiliate guidelines selection. Do you affiliate with any anime? Is the development of the wiki itself a factor, if characters have the same voice actor is that grounds? The point is some reasons for affiliating are more important than others and so Durarara!! Is in a very good place to forge it's own best practises. If I may suggest, the story, world and characters, the actual content that a series espouses should hold the greatest weight when deciding an affiliation.
Linking the Naritaverse wikis was a perfect start and as I said on the Baccano! Wiki, I shall wait patiently for the communities to share their opinions. I do hope I make a good case that Banana Fish would be an ideal affiliate with Durarara!! Based on their similar world and themes, it’s the interchangeable heart they share that matters.
In any case should one of us inform Revriley that the Naritaverse wiki affiliates are to go ahead? I believe the community vote here on Durarara!! (For some reason I like typing out the full names!) Was being awaited. I can offer my support in a thread for affiliations, though since I’m requesting one I'm not sure if it counts as bias. Then again I love both Durarara!! And Banana Fish so it might be useful insight? Either way of course feel free to message me here or on Banana Fish after everyone has shared their views.
Hi S3r0, thanks for stopping by! Our admin Chrome is living with the horror of no internet for the time being, as noted on her profile; otherwise she'd have responded to your message on her wall. We've been following your discussion with Rev over on the Baccano! Wiki. Rev is a part of this community too and makes significant contributions here, and we're good friends off of wikia as well. I've already let her know the affiliation is a go, but thank you for offering your assistance.
Regarding our affiliates box, I don't want to make it overly large and have a lot of empty space inside. We can always make it bigger as we need to. In our initial discussion of affiliations, when considering non-Naritaverse wikis, the opinions of other contributors was leaning toward prioritizing anime that also have light novel origins. While we haven't set our guidelines in stone yet, we all agree that it is too large a step to affiliate with just any anime wiki. After we've accomplished this and come to a decision, I can message you on the Banana Fish Wiki. I love that series too and would be glad to stop by!
It’s my pleasure! But my goodness, I didn’t want to believe it was true, to be without internet for so long. I’ll have to give my deepest condolences to Chrome, though also congratulations for getting a house! That’s excellent Rev knows about the affiliations system as well!
Yes that works better regarding the size of the affiliates box. That’s also a neat feature prioritizing anime with light novel origins, though should I make the same case to other contributors what I feel are good ties? Would be interesting to see how they are received, but otherwise looking forward to seeing how everyone feels about this affiliation.
I’m also so glad to hear you love Banana Fish! It mirrors my love for Durarara!! And Bacanno too, obviously why I thought they would be good affiliations naturally. Now we have circumvented spoilers whilst the anime is running, but we do have article comments and story sections established. So yes it’s probably best just to go straight to my message wall to avoid a potential landmine field of spoilers, you never know where they’re ready and waiting to ambush you!
Necessary in what way, would you please elaborate? Also, just because other Anime-based Wiki's have such a section doesn't necessarily mean it's needed on our Wiki. For example, the Hunter x Hunter wiki has a whole page/wiki dedicated to Questions & Answers. People can ask questions and contributors answer them. A whole, organized discussion forum. Pretty neat, huh? While they may have a need for something like that, we don't.
I also want to note that such a section calls on the opinion of the writer and it's vital that you avoid biasing anything you place on the Wiki. This isn't the place for our opinions on a subject, we only state facts as they are printed before us.
Our pages are supposed to summaries, not play-by-plays. Individual character pages list those items. And just by glancing at the page hit counts, the arc pages are routinely at 0 views while character pages receive thousands daily. I don't think such a section is necessary at this point in time, however, this is something for the community to decide on so let's see what other contributors have to say.
Firstly, I'm with Chrome that just because something exists on another wiki, doesn't mean we need it here. Fairy Tail and One Piece are huge series. With Durarara!!, you generally see the consequences of an event or action right away, eliminating the need for a "story impact" section, and backstories are provided as they become relevant and tie in immediately, not later.
Secondly, "story impact" is too broad of a topic. The entire arc has an impact on the overall story by virtue of being an arc in the series and moving the story along. Where do we draw the lines? It's possible to look at each arc as an individual story, moreso because each arc is based on a light novel, and Narita didn't write without changing his mind or being pushed by editors for something, novel-to-novel. There were things in the novels he suddenly dropped because he or his editors decided to pursue a different route. If a major addition is one introduced only in an arc and not its corresponding novel, then we, as a canon-based wiki, don't want to give misleading information by presenting it as fact.
That ties in to my last point, which is restructuring the arc pages. Because they're based on and have a corresponding novel, it might be useful to bring up differences between the anime and novels on the arc pages. You say that two of the four arc pages are close to completion, but the Dollars/Mika Harima arc and Saika arc pages are the worst off. They're poorly written, hard to comprehend play-by-plays, and what we need are summaries. Those pages should be a few paragraphs long at the max and should highlight the main points of the arc. The Yellow Scarves arc page is in the best shape at the moment, but that doesn't change the fact that those pages aren't linked anywhere and receive no views from passers-by. When the pages are restructured and contain solid information, grammar, and links, and they're short enough that people will actually read them, it could be useful to add them to the navigation bar so that they can be utilized.
Sxerks is coming up on the 60 day deadline for inactivity on the Wiki. Given my love for Durarara!! and the desire to continue contributing to the community, I've decided to try and adopt the Wiki formally through Fandom. Before putting in my request, I wanted to see if everyone would be alright with this. Let me know what you think!
