"Eloquent & Competent" is the ninth episode of Durarara!!x2 Ten and the forty-ninth episode overall of the Durarara!! anime.
Synopsis[]
As he recovers from his injuries at home under Celty Sturluson's care, Shinra Kishitani tells her about his middle school days, when he first met and befriended Izaya Orihara and the pair started a biology club. Though uninterested in biology, Izaya's love of human observation causes him to be curious about Shinra, a boy who holds no interest in humans and seems to have seen something even greater.
Events unfolding during their first summer in middle school cause Izaya to get a boy called Nakura under his thumb. Twelve years later, Izaya is still using the name "Nakura" for his own ends, with the tortured and regretful man himself still living under the information broker's control.
