Chako is a salarywoman who seems to use the internet to live a fantasy and search for excitement, enough to don a false identity as a middle school girl online. When she begins suspecting that one of her seemingly ordinary acquaintances is actually quite unhinged, however, she is intimidated enough to leave her social circle.

Chako recounts to an office coworker an online experience she had several years prior, when she joined an obscure internet chat room by pretending to be a middle schooler. When one of her online acquaintances suggested starting their own gang, they began posting the Dollars name on internet message boards as an inside joke, but eventually stories about the Dollars began appearing online independent of the original group. The other founding members left as the rumor that they had created started to turn into something real. Chako intended to stick around longer to enjoy the rise of the Dollars in Ikebukuro from the safe distance of Hokkaido, until one of the other founders, someone who had seemed innocent and normal in the beginning, began showing a devotion to the gang that frightened Chako. With the realization that TarouTanaka might be crazy, she left the Dollars behind. Chako implies that she is still active online and loosely follows the goings-on of the Dollars without taking part herself or interacting with TarouTanaka.
