The Amphisbaena Arc is the eighth story arc of the Durarara!! series. Recovering at home from his brutal attack, Shinra Kishitani reminisces about his middle school days with Izaya Orihara and how they both turned out the way they are. Celty Sturluson accepts a job from Izaya in exchange for information on Shinra's attacker and ends up ferrying information on the underground gambling organization called Amphisbaena. The group abducts Izaya and their leader, a woman named Earthworm, tortures him while sorting through the information she had hired an anonymous online info broker to collect on him. When thugs from the drug-dealing group Heaven's Slave steal the Amphisbaena tracking information off of Celty, their leader Hiroto Shijima arrives at the bar to introduce himself to Earthworm, but Izaya frees himself from his bonds as his own group breaks up the gathering. He invites Shijima into the Dollars, hoping to make him another one of his pawns in the future, and allows Haruna Niekawa to take control of the Amphisbaena members using Saika, fulfilling the request from Haruya Shiki of the Awakusu-kai to gather information on the underground casino and eliminating them from competition. The following day, Masaomi Kida returns to Ikebukuro wearing a bright yellow scarf, and Mizuki Akabayashi asks Izaya for information on Mikado Ryuugamine.
